Happy Minds Sussex and it's sub-division Happy Kids, is a not-for-profit company based in Shoreham-by-Sea that offers small and practical group and 1:1 sessions for kids, teens and families to provide support with a variety of emotional needs. We are trauma and anxiety specialists and are able to help with all emotional issues.
We are increasingly being contacted by parents whose children are suffering from stress, trauma, anxiety and low self esteem, yet there is limited support available to families, especially in the early stages and for trauma support.
This prompted us to create accessible group sessions for kids, teens and families as a whole, to discuss what they are experiencing in a safe and supportive environment, aiming to reduce the negative emotions quickly and boost self esteem. These courses are tailored for primary, secondary schools and academy's plus community groups such as Girl Guides, Brownies, Scouts, Cadets and so on. We are especially keen on implementing a Year 3 programme into schools as this will have a huge impact on preventing anxiety and other mental health issues developing in Years 6, 7, 10, 11 and onwards.
The sessions run as a 4 or 6 week course and provide practical solutions along with some art and play therapy. We also incorporate meditation and therapeutic techniques to help reduce anxiety levels, teach helpful self help tools during times of stress and promote positive change. The sessions are also great for children who are not actually suffering with anxiety but would like to attend for awareness and most importantly, prevention.
To speak to us about arranging a course for your school or youth group, please contact us via the form below.
We are also able to offer 1:1 or 2:1 private sessions should your child currently be suffering with stress and anxiety or needing some mental health support. Unfortunately due to working on the schools programme, we are currently unable to offer the group sessions at The Shoreham Centre. If you need any help, or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are now able to offer 1:1 face to face sessions again along with phone/facetime/Zoom etc.
We have been receiving quite a lot of correspondence from parents whose children are experiencing increased anxiety due to all of the recent changes and for some, the adjustment of returning to school but perhaps not quite in the way that they knew it. If you are struggling with this, or any other post-lockdown related stress, trauma or loss, please do get in touch.
We are also looking into holding small group sessions again that will take place either face to face or online. If this would be of interest to you, please let us know.
